Attached is a copy of a past article from the Sacred Octagon that will help you understand the correct application of the springs and associated brackets.
One thing that I will point out is that the brake pedal return spring may need to be bent differently depending on the location of the hole in the stop light switch bracket. There have been 2 original configurations of the bracket. The first is the hole towards the back of the car and the 2nd, the hole towards the front. The bracket when installed normally has a droop which is down towards the ground and not up, Please look at your bracket, see how it will be bolted to the frame and then decide if your hole is front or rear on the bracket, Then bend your spring as necessary. Recommend you modify bracket if possible to place the hole towards the back. (Drill a second hole towards the back.) This will give you the best install of the spring. The enclosed spring will work for either but will require some bending and adjustment. The drawing shows the front hole Installation which is the hardest and considered non - typical.
The hook can also be easily bent to fine tune the adjustment for the brake switch. The other items are ready to install.
Note that originally, these were painted black. If you choose to paint them suggest you extend them first with a weight and then paint with a spray can, let dry and they turn out beautiful.
